ROUND BRITAIN WALKERS
Walkers walking the coast of Britain
 |
 |
Over the years a few people have followed in my footsteps around the coast of Britain. Here are the details of current two coast walkers.
AMY LEIGH - AMY GOES COASTAL Having been inspired by my book - Turn Right at Lands End - she will be setting off from Guy's Hospital in London, in early February. She plans a 240 day schedule with her brother in a support vehicle.
Amy, because her elder brother, Dean, died from Kidney failure aged 43, as she walks she is raising money for Kidney Research UK in his memory.

JOHN GALE, from Surrey.
In January 2006 he set off; again inspired by my walk and book, to walk anticlockwise - the Devil's Way. He is doing it stages, as he has a fulltime job, and has so far walked 2,700 miles and reached Mallaig. As he walks he is including all islands that have a bridge linking it to mainland.

OTHER COASTAL WALKERS -
February 6th. 2010. National newspaper had a small paragraph about a man and his two dogs who had just completed a 6,500 mile walk around the coast. Unable to find out anymore information so far.
8th. March 2010. Newspaper paragraph - "SEA LEGS - Mum Jill Low, 57, of Fleet Hants, has finished a solo trek of Britain's 3,220 mile (!!!!) coastline - 14 years after starting." (Note - my exclamation marks, as the British mainland coastline is more than double that figure.) |
