Starting from Castleton and Cave Dale, the route takes you through twenty limestone dales to Dove Dale and Thorpe in the south. The walk is a challenge to do in 24 hours or 48 hours. Camp sites and hostels are on or close to the route, together with more than seven inns and cafe's, to help make the journey a memorable outing through unique scenery.

Created by John Merrill in 1969 it is often copied but never bettered, and is regarded as the "finest limestone dale walk in the Peak District and England."
Since 1969 more than 62,000 people have walked the route and raised more than 125,000 for various charities.
