A YOUNG WALKER'S STORY
/i//tn_25609_-_badge_certificate_ceremony.jpg Joel E. Foote of Nottinghamshire did his first walk of mine, in June 2000, aged 4 1/2 - a 3 mile walk around Matlock. Since then he has become the first young person to complete all 12 walks in my Short Circular Walks around the Town and Villages of the Peak District, which he did from 2nd June 2002 to July 30th. 2008. Since then he walked all fifteen walks - another first - in my Short Circular Walks in the Peak District Vol. 1; completing the last walk on May 24th. 2009. A truly exceptional achievement of the highest endevour.
On Thursday June 25th. I had the pleasure of meeting Joel and presenting him with his certificates and badges - see photo. A real dedicated walker of the countryside in the making. May his thirst for walking and discovering never diminish.

Joel was 13 in mid October 2009, and I suggested that if the weather was fine, the ascent of Helvellyn, would be a great choice for the occasion in the Lake District. This is what he did , enjoying the tremendous views. He also had the added bonus of the Honister Trust helicopter calling in and was allowed to sit in the pilot's seat, while on the summit.Later a celebratory meal and a walk to the Lake Theatre. A memorable day for him and his mother.
