This book which started in a light-hearted fashin after an anniversary dinner in a supposedly haunted hotel is now written with all sincerety. Yes, I do believe in ghosts.
All the ghostly stories were related to me and accepted in good faith. I believe them to be genuine.
Legends handed down fron generation to generation may be exaggerated in the telling, but what a sad world it would be without them.
The history of Newark in Nottinghamshire goes back for hundreds of years, not surprisingly, vivid tales have been told of its ghosts and legends.

Rosemary Robb of Newark Nottinghamshire, took early retirement from her library career to promote her first book. Now a Vive President of the Nottingham Writer's Club, she gives talks to W.I.'s, Rotay Clubs and Local History Societies, and is well known on local radio.
