North East Derbyshire has severl stunning trails, along former railway lines in coal mining country. They pass through delightful countryside and unlike the Peak District Trails, they are quiet and peaceful. The trails include the adjoining trails in western Nottinghamshire, such as the Pleasley Trail Network, the Archaeological Way and the Nutbrook Trail, which hovers both sides of the border. The trans Pennine link Trail from Chesterfield to Rotherham (South Yorkshire), and the Five Pits Trail are both fully explored. There has been a quiet walking revolution in this area and the walking is quiet simply superb!
