The 240 year old River Stort Navigation is one of the smallest canals/navigations in England at 13 3/4 mile long - from the River Lee navigation at Fieldes Lock to Bishop's Stortford. However, this navigation is full of history with fifteen locks and a fascinating array of interesting villages, towns and inns bordering its side, making rewarding walking. Eight short circular walks of between 5 and 8 miles long - which interlock - cover the whole navigation. One fianl walk of 18 miles explores the whole navigation in one unforgettable end to end walk.
