The story of John's walk from Oslo to Trondheim, following the St. Olav Way. A stunning walk through valleys and high remote mountains, see places of worship associated with Norway's Patron Saint - St. Olav. He met no other walker on the three week walk.
The St. Olav's Way, was the fourth major medieval pilgrimage route, to the most northern medieval Cathedral. The 643 km (386 miles) route via Lillehammer, traces the popular walking route used over the centuries by pilgrims walking to the shrine of St. Olav - King, martyr and saint, who brought Christianity to Norway. The route passes numerous wooden churches and farms and leads from the site of medieval Oslo, past lakes, through woodland and across the Douvre Mountains to the magnificent cathedral in Trondheim. It is a quiet and remote walk giving time for reflection and contemplation, and is a true pilgrimage experience.
