St. Winefride's Way is a pilrimage walk of 14 miles to Winefride's Well in Holywell, Flintshire. Starting from the historic and smallest cathedral city in Britain, St. Asaph, the route follows paths and lanes eastwards. Crossing Offa's Dyke path the route pass the cross - Maen Achwyfan, the tallest wheel cross in Britain. Next it enters Whitford with its church and a Pennant family monument, before passing the Friary at Pantasasph. From here the way descends with views of the Dee Estuary, to the well, a place of uninterripted pilgrimage for over 1,300 years - the Lourdes of Wales. The walk can be extended by a mile to include the Greenfield Valley and see the ruins of Basingwerk Abbey. 40 pages. A5. 5 maps 20 photographs. Log and ammenities guide. Certificate available on completion.
