SHORT CIRCULAR WALKS

The North-Eastern area of Derbyshire, with Chesterfield as its hub, has numerous walking areas through attractive countryside - past historical buildings, secluded reservoirs, impressive churches, along an old canal, past sites of unique archaeological interest and trails along former railway lines.
Fourteen walks of between 4 and 6 miles long explore the area fully bringing you to ruined halls, quiet meadows and streams, vantage points of exceptional beauty, rugged gritstone edges and tranquil reservoirs.
Walks based on Eckington, Holmesdale, Old Whittington, Linacre Reservoirs, Cresswell Crags, Chesterfield Canal, Archaeological Way, Holymoorside, Bolsover, Ashover, Hardwick Hall, Ogston Reservoir, Oinxton and the Five Pits Trail.
Each walk starts from a car park, has a detailed map and walking instuctions, historical notes and at least one inn or cafe en route..
