The Happy Hiker Challenge Walk, is a wonderful 26 mile circular walk in the White Peak (The Peak District National Park), from Over Haddon. It is a challenge to walk it in twelve hours, but also makes a very pleasant two day walk, with Longnor at the halfway point, with all facilities. The route involves 2,000 feet of ascent and takes you past old lead mines, numerous villages - Flagg and Earl Sterndale - rich in history and folklore - "The Quiet Woman! - and past prehistoric sites - Arbor Low - "The Stonehenge of the Peak District". The final section is through the incomparable Lathkill Dale with a steep ascent to finish! The successful can obtain a special Happy Hiker badge and signed certificate.
