Welcome to The John Merrill Foundation
Walking is my passion and life' work. I attempt to write books on the whole spectrum of walking - countryside, towns and villages, mountains, coast, islands, day challenges and long walks both day and multiple days. At the John Merrill Foundation, I believe in the importance of providing a quality guidebook. That’s why every book we sell is guaranteed to be exactly as described and to arrive in good condition and autographed free. All our printed and bound by me and are totally all my own work.

My latest coastal walk - September 12th and 13th. 2007. was around the coastline of the isle of Sheppey - 45 miles, a superb walk in brilliant weather! This will soon be a new UK Island Walk Book!

Photo opposite - John Merrill on June 1st. 2008, after crossing the finishing line in Potters Field, near Tower Bridge, London, after joining 3,000 walkers on a six mile "Walk for Life". Danny Long, opposite, from Saffron Walden, Essex, became the tenth person to complete ten of my challenge walks - the first was in 1992 - around Rutland Water. He is a dedicated walker and completed many marathons and last year, cycled from John o' Groats to Lands End in eight days! My congratulations to him.
My congratulations to Master Thomas Smith, AGED Six - who walked the whole of my Peakland Way - 100 miles - between April 11th and 19th. 2008. The youngest walker to complete the walk - brilliant.
Site last updated - August 20th. 2008.
May I wish you all Happy Walking.
May the wind be at your back and the sun shines all day!
Thought for the day - "Take a 10 - 30 min walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant."
"Once every three to five years, embark on a journey on your own."
